Smartbox Group, a provider of online gift vouchers, has announced plans to hire 100 staff as part of a new office expansion in Dublin.
Smartbox Group is one of the biggest online gift voucher firms in Europe, with €1bn worth of business created in 2016 and 6.5m gifts purchased across 10 countries.
Now, with 2,000 sq ft added to its office in Dublin, Smartbox is set for an expansion, which will create 100 jobs and bring the company’s total number of employees above 500 by the end of this year.
The company revealed the expansion is part of its effort to undertake a significant R&D project at its Talbot Street office, with a focus on creating an advanced information system to better cater to its customer service offerings.
Smartbox said the new roles at the Dublin site will focus on a number of key areas, including R&D, customer experience, sales, marketing, finance and supply chain.
Some other more specific roles include systems engineers, front- and back-end developers, business intelligence and data analysts, and Salesforce and DevOps engineers.
In the future, the company said it envisages the creation of further roles across all other areas of the company, including customer service, sales, content writers and desktop publishers, finance, supply chain and digital.
Welcoming the announcement, CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan said: “Smartbox Group has experienced significant growth and success since it arrived in Dublin, and I am very hopeful that this trend will continue for many years to come.”
Smartbox CEO John Perkins added: “This expansion today is a further endorsement of Smartbox Group’s commitment to Dublin and we are delighted with the quality talent which we can access here in Ireland, along with leveraging the support of the wider R&D ecosystem.”
The firm also announced that it has acquired Odisseias – subject to approval from competition regulators – a leader in the experience gift market in Portugal.
This makes it the eighth company to be added to the Smartbox Group.
